Leonardo to Secure G7 Summit in Taormina, Italy with TETRA

Leonardo has provided an advanced communications network for the G7 summit in Taormina, allowing for the effective coordination of security operations. Security forces protecting the international summit, which will see heads of state and other government officials convene in the town of Taormina, Sicily on May 26-27, will be able to use the equipment to rapidly intervene during any crisis, ensuring the summit, the local population and the surrounding area receive the highest level of protection.

The Leonardo network, which was delivered within an extremely tight timescale, is based on TETRA (TErrestrial Trunked RAdio) technology, the international gold standard for mission-critical communications. It covers the towns of Taormina, Catania and Messina, Airports in Sigonella (Siracusa) and Fontanarossa (Catania) and all summit locations.
